This notice applies to mobile applications published by Northstar Recycling Company, LLC and its affiliates (“NSR”, “we”, “us”), including NSR MI, for use by NSR employees, contractors and authorized business partners (“you”). It does not cover the northstarrecycling.com website; see our website Privacy Policy for that.
Information we collect
When you use an NSR mobile app, we collect information to operate, secure and improve our services, as permitted by NSR policies. This may include:
- Identity and account information — your name, work email, and the groups and permissions on your NSR (Microsoft Entra) account, provided when you sign in.
- Device information — device type, operating system and app version, and management status reported by NSR’s mobile device management (MDM).
- Usage and activity information — the screens and features you use, records you view, searches you run, and the time and frequency of use.
- Content you enter — for example favorites, notes, statuses and other information you save in an app.
- Location information — only when a feature you choose needs it (for example “Near me” on a map), and only while the app is in use. You can turn location off at any time in your device settings.
- Diagnostic information — error reports, logs and performance data used to keep the apps working.
How we use information
We use this information to provide and secure the apps; to authenticate you and enforce access permissions; to support NSR business operations such as sales, account management and reporting; to troubleshoot, maintain and improve the apps; and to comply with law and NSR policies.
Where information is stored
Business data you access through NSR apps is stored on NSR-controlled servers and services. Apps are designed to keep business data on the server rather than on your device: an app may hold data temporarily in memory while you use it, and stores only what it needs to keep you signed in, protected by your device’s secure storage.
Sharing
We do not sell your information. We share it only:
- with service providers that help us run the apps — for example Microsoft (sign-in and device management), Apple (app distribution) and our app build and update provider — under obligations to protect it;
- within NSR and its affiliates for the purposes above; and
- when required by law or to protect the rights, safety or security of NSR, our people or others.
NSR apps do not show advertising and do not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.
Retention
We keep information for as long as needed for the purposes described above and as required by NSR’s records-retention policies and applicable law, then delete or anonymize it.
Monitoring and consent
NSR apps are company systems. Your use of them may be logged and monitored in line with NSR policies, and you should not expect privacy in information you create or access through them. By selecting “I agree” or by using an NSR mobile app, you acknowledge this notice and consent to the collection and use of information described in it, as governed by NSR policies.
Your choices
- Turn off location for an app at any time in your device’s Settings.
- Sign out of an app at any time from its menu.
- To ask about, correct or request deletion of information associated with you, or to withdraw your consent, contact us (below). Withdrawing consent may mean you can no longer use the app.
Changes
We may update this notice. When we make material changes, the app will ask you to review and accept the updated version.
